My logo

The idea for this project was to create our own personal logo (left). I started out by thinking about color and shape. What message was I trying to get across? I knew I wanted it to look cool- like an optical illusion. It's always hard to take your eyes away from those. Red symbolizes intensity and passion while black is more formal and professional. Those two were the colors I used because I thought they were a good mix. I used circles and curves because they appear smooth instead of blocky. It has almost a spiral affect.

I started with the shape tool and made the ellipse right in the center while holding the shift key to avoid warping the shape. Then I began with the shape in red, using the line and curve tools. I realized it looked to simple and decided to copy it to give it that spiral shape using Option-drag. This started as an experiment but I wanted to continue the reflection-cirlce theme I had. I knew I would have to have my name in it somewhere as it was a logo so I reflected the name by typing on a path and putting it on both sides, then I ended with putting the C in the middle. I saved it as a PNG 24.

One challenge was the curve tool. It took me a while to figure out how to do it so it would look the way I wanted. Figuring out how to type on a path was easier. If I was to do it again, I'd probably start out with a different initial design altogether. While I like how this looks, most logos have more symbolism. The Apple logo stands for the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, for example. More experience using Illustrator would've helped me with this project.
